Natskallen is hand thrown thinly of English stoneware clay. The decoration consists of three to four layers of slipping (clay dye). The slipping is layered using a wide brush. In this way the artist achieves depth in the decoration. The dry expression of the outside contrasts with the dark iron glazing on the inside of the form. The bowl is fired at 1280 degrees centigrade. The glazing is non-toxic and impervious to water. Every single bowl is hand thrown with the utmost care and has its own individual expression. Not one is like any other. Both colour and form vary so you will always be able to choose your own special bowl. The bowl that fits both your personality and the surroundings in which it is placed.

"I shredded actual paper plates, which previously where used to mold the plates, and then combined the paper pulp with porcelain slip to create my own unique batch of environmentally sound paperclay. Handmade by English ceramic designer Polly George in rural Kent. No two pieces are the same and unique differences are part of their charm. All products are designed and handcrafted by Polly George in her country workshop in the picturesque Kent village of Shipbourne. Using carefully sourced materials, the products are slip cast.
