Sylvia became inspired to design purses after purchasing a gorgeous grouping of vintage purse handles. Materials, periods and cultures mixed together in surprising and provocative ways became her inspiration. A Mexican gilt trimmed curtain is lining a toile handbag and a 70's leather tooled belt is the handle. "I just had to make that bag!" Sylvia says. "This is how it works for me." Her present inspiration is more contemporary. Its roots are in the early 80's East Coast Hip Hop culture meets Edith Wharton.

You just need to bring a clothing project that you have been wanting to tackle and head to 3rd Ward. Molly Dilworth will help participants review the garments and show you possibilities for alternating the item. And the best thing is you will get suggestions tailored to your individual garments. Molly Dilworth is a Brooklyn artist who has made commissioned sewing projects for Calvin Klein, LaSuperette, Spring Gallery and with artists Marina Zurkow and Julian Bleeker.
