British Handcrafted

My work is unique in that it is influenced by the rich and decorative18th Century British Romantic tradition. British rustic is unique from its more familiar American cousin, in that its graceful lines follow nature’s whimsy yet suggest the complexity of wrought ironwork.

Handmade by English ceramic designer Polly George in rural Kent. No two pieces are the same and unique differences are part of their charm. All products are designed and handcrafted by Polly George in her country workshop in the picturesque Kent village of Shipbourne. Using carefully sourced materials, the products are slip cast. The pure and simple white shapes, which are Polly's trademark, are then individually stamped or alternatively decorated with bows, butterflies and roses, all applied by hand. Once fired in the pottery studio, the items are hand-dipped giving each piece its own individual appeal.

Our Scrapbox Brooches are made from patches of leftover fabric, old jewellery and any other bits and pieces we have lying around. Everything's combined and sewn on to one of our giant safety pins. They look fantastic on the lapel of blazers and jackets. This brooch has great character with its beat up fabric and tatty white bow. A cute button and handmade, copper clay flowers are the central design.

The majority of our rings are made in one of two ways. They're either sewn together starting with the band where each bead is sewn one by one or they're threaded on to wire, which is then twisted, coiled, wrapped etc. to create a mini masterpiece. Each ring is like a piece of art and is always made up on the spot so no one ever knows what they'll look like until Much, the designer, decides it's finished.

  • British Designer Tom Schneider. “Welcome to my collections! Our furniture is not mass-produced, instead we have a team of highly skilled craftsmen who have been trained under my supervision to hand make each piece of furniture. This means that we do not make your furniture until you have decided which wood, fabric or leather you would like. I love the fact that ultimately our customers are buying a unique piece of furniture made especially for them”!
