The fabulous fashion streak continues for Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester! At the Teen Choice Awards, it was high-fashion and effortless perfection all the way for this budding trend-setter, with a look that was polished and sophisticated, but still fun and laidback. Wearing a rich green draped belted Lanvin dress paired with black Jimmy Choo pumps and adorned in nearly $60,000 of Cartier jewelry, Leighton looked absolutely radiant and royally regal and was a solid fashion force to be reckoned with on the blue carpet, an especially impressive accomplishment given the strong turnout of fashion heavy-hitters! Dressing to flatter a big bust is not a problem I have ever had to deal with. The same can’t be said of celebs like Jessica Simpson, whose father once famously nauseated us all by claiming: “she’s got double D’s, you can’t cover those suckers up!” Fortunately, Papa Joe was wrong, and there ARE ways to minimize and flatter big busts. 1. “For big chests, look for tops with shape. I have to wear things that go in at the waist or I can look pregnant.” - Jessica Simpson Style Tip: Look for tops that are tight at the waist and loose around the chest area- this style is a great way to minimize the waist and create the illusion of a smaller bust. The wrap-top is another great option - it minimizes the bust region, plus, you can adjust the tie to cinch the waist comfortably and avoid looking like you have a bun in the oven.

    Starring on a hit show where the fashion takes center stage definitely has its advantages, case in point: Leighton Meester, who seems to be getting more glamorous by the day. The Gossip Girl star arrived at the opening of the opera La Fille Du Regiment looking absolutely stunning in a yellow strapless Yves Saint Laurent cocktail dress, standing out amongst a crowd of fashion heavy hitters including Diane Kruger, Naomi Campbell and the Queen of Fashion herself, Ms. Anna Wintour. When she was an actual high-school student, Leighton described her style as “A combination of just rolling out of bed and going to class and kind of defying my femininity by wearing sweatshirts with holes in them, never wearing heels or skirts” (Blair Waldorf would be horrified). Now that she plays a fictional one, her style has gone from bleak to super chic, not to mention, worthy of replicating!

    We all know that black is a super-trend that belongs in the trend hall of fame, and that white is well on its way to claiming a spot as well, so what happens when you blend these two power forces together? You get one SUPER trend! Pairing black and white is not a revolutionary idea; however, this old-school idea has been given a new school twist this season resulting in styles that are funky, edgy, fun, and anything but safe and boring. The best part about this style? The dress does all the work for you. Accessories can be kept to a minimum; just zip it up, slip into your favorite pumps (any color goes), grab a clutch (again, any color goes), and you’re done! Wow, that was easy! Check out my SLIDESHOW for some awesome new-wave black and white styles.

    Bows are another one of those quirky trends that are steadily making their way onto the racks for spring and summer and will dominate them come fall. Bows abounded on the fall/winter ’08 runway shows: We saw flirty bows to compliment party-girl styles at Nanette Lepore, Park Avenue princess bows at Lela Rose, old-fashioned Russian-inspired bows at Verrier, Parisian bows at Milly, and that’s just skimming the surface of a very deep pool of bows! Celebs are always the leaders of the trend pack, so it’s no surprise that most have them have already hopped on-board the bow express. Check out my SLIDESHOW for some truly bow-rific looks and tell us what you think about the trend in comments.

    We gotta take a time out and give credit where it’s due. At the ripe old age of 16, which we all know is like 30 in Hollywood years, little miss Miley Cyrus has yet to come out with a sex tape, go to rehab, get pregnant, hook up with Wilmer Valderrama, land the cover of a magazine with the headline “Scary Skinny!’ get caught with her panties off, and pretty much do anything that even remotely resembles the outrageous behavior of her predecessors. It doesn’t seem like much of a coincidence that the name Miley has the same number of letters as Midas, as this girl certainly has the touch that turns everything into gold. It must be pretty sweet to take a walk in this gal’s shoes. Oh wait, you kind of can! Miley stole the show at this week’s CMT Awards and in the spirit of stealing, we can steal her look. Just like the lightweight scarf, the lightweight coat is a spring-trend must-have that will remain relevant year round. From the west coast where it’s always nice (you lucky ducks) to the east coast, where winter weather is tenaciously refusing to let up, It girls like Hayden Panettiere, Ashlee Simpson, Michelle Trachtenberg and more have been spreading the coat love by coating themselves in a variety of styles from the classic trench, to the fitted pea-coat, to the cropped jacket, for looks that are so chic it almost makes you wish this cold spell would last a little longer! As expected, getting the exact looks comes with a hefty price tag. Getting styles that are nearly identical? Well that’s a different story! Click my SLIDESHOW to see where you can get their look at prices you need to see to believe.

    Rock and roll and celebrities go together like- well, like rock and roll and celebrities! Celebs just love showing off their wild sides- either by dating a head-to-toe covered in tattoos rocker, or by simply emulating the iconic (?) styles of such trendsetters (??) as Slash from Guns n’ Roses. This trend is universal and inspires designers from every end of the designing food chain, from ultra sophisticated high-end labels like Chanel to grungy, edgy designers like Alexander Wang. Who cares if you’ve never touched an electric guitar and you’d rather rock out to a catchy pop tune over a head banging metal jam- you can still rock the ultra sexy rock ‘n’ roll look and infuse a bit of your own personality into the style- like Nicky Hilton who balances edginess with sophistication, Ashley Olsen, who rocks out while staying true to her boho-chic put together/undone signature style;

    I did a bunch of celebrity and designer interviews at L.A. Fashion Week last week, including two at the Whitley Kros show on Day One. I already ran the Danny Masterson and Giovanni Ribisi interview and wanted to put a little breathing room between them and my other fave chat from that night, Juliette Lewis. Juliette told me she loved Whitley Kros (designed by two of her best buds Marissa Ribisi and Sophia Banks), because “its casual and elegant at the same time,” but couldn’t see wearing them with her band The Licks. “On stage I need something a little more rough around the edges so I can tumble and ... cavort,” she explained. Watch the video to see us cavort through the rest of our red carpet interview now!

    L.A. Fashion Week was a procession of pretty people and interesting conversations, but if I had to pick THE highlight of the week, it was probably chatting with pretty interesting Mena Suvari in Smashbox Studios’ VIP room. I just happened to be in there filming segment about the VIP room itself when Mena glided in to hang out before the Jenny Han show. (All of the American Express cardholders got to hang back there all week with the designers and celebs, so one flash of my “Member Since 1997,” and I was in.) What followed was a wide-ranging conversation on accessories, Spring colors, and head shapes. Yes, head shapes.

    Last night’s awards ceremony was a classic, from Jack Nicholson making trouble for Jon Stewart in the front row, to Javier Bardem’s emotional bilingual acceptance speech to his moms, to all of the stunning fashion on the red carpet. Three A-list actresses in Oscar-nominated movies went the diamond necklace route when putting together last night’s accessories: Nicole Kidman, Keri Russell and Jennifer Garner. Their total bling? 1506 carats! Which actress's necklace do you give the Style Oscar to?

    I know how hard Adrian Grenier worked for that beard. Last month I made it to 15 days without shaving and basically couldn’t sleep because the hairs, at about an inch long, were stabbing into my cheeks like a million needles when I lay my head on my pillow. One more week of pain, and I would have been on my way to a full Adrien. Now, having hacked it off with a Mach 3, I am about to instead get my hair dyed and spiked, more along the lines of Jason Lewis.
