BagTrends: You produce in Italy, which is rare today even for established luxury brands. Joanna Maxham: Originally, my decision to produce in Italy was driven by my geographic location. I lived in Paris at that time and since French manufacturers I met were not very open to working with a new designer, I focused my search on Italy. The Italian team I went with gave me a crash course in handbag design and construction, as well shared many of the Industry secrets. The biggest challenge remains the labor cost and the shipping charges.

Stepping into Union Square Ballroom via a Pink Carpet, passing through billowing curtains and down a candle-light staircase, bagista babes entered the fall 2008 BagTrends Arm Candy Party. The public launch of our “sparty” was a big success with plenty of bag-a-licious shopping, signature Bagista Martinis, and spa pampering. Guests enjoyed a luxurious, shopping oasis where they perused the hottest, contemporary handbag lines.
