Soft, supple olive green leather slides through an ornate topaz rhinestone buckle to fasten this 1970's belt. The large stones on the buckle are prong set in the heavy, pewter-toned metal. The belt is 2.25 inches wide, a nice size to cinch everything from a dress to a coat. The belt is rather long, so it will either fit a larger size, or it could be shortened, or worn low on the hips to fit a smaller size. It is in excellent to mint condition, with no noted flaws. Size: total belt length is 44", to fit no larger than a 40" waist (or hips) Width: 2.25" Buckle: 3" by 3.5"

This gold suede coat from the 1960s has a streamlined, mod design. The Nehru-type collar, horizontal pocket flaps, and decorative topstitching are simple accents complementing its otherwise clean lines. The fit of the coat is quite narrow through the shoulders and arms. Although it comes with a matching suede belt, I think the coat looks better without it. It is lined with gold satin fabric and has two extra buttons attached inside the hem. In very good condition, the bright gold suede of this coat will add a dash of color to your fall wardrobe. The coat fits like a modern XXS-XS, smallest through the shoulder area, and loose through the waist. Bust: about 32" to 34" maximum when worn over clothing (measures 38" flat) Hip: about 32" to 34" maximum when worn over clothing (measures 38" flat) Length: 38"

Evidence: Pink leather; about fifty five [$55] bucks [thirty nine pounds]; nice, unusually fashioned front end stripes; twenties/thirties/sixties [twenties/thirties flapper youth revival] w/ a higher heel. Conclusion: Cant beat it w/ a stick. Little bit of a Westwood/Geiger/Irregular Choice/something Fly something [cant remember] as well. Nice job.

One of the better examples of 60s nostalghia for the 20s--flappers, fitzgerald, clara bow, jazz babies--& all that. Preceding by less than a decade the early 70s fascination for all things 30s, then 40s, then 50s--whereto & wherefrom we now reference & re-reference, like a trompe l'oeill painting of a painting of a painting of a painting..... Where will it all stop? I wonder about this sometimes, especially as we are running out of late 20C decades. Perhaps not as sexy as what would accompany the soon-to-be-then's Ossies, tho certainly a better evocation of Twiggy & her era would be difficult to find.

"I am more like an artist than a clothing designer," he said [more or less] soon before he died. Absolutely, one must concur two decades later. If a perfect cross can be made from the comingling of art, craft & design, Mr Gibb must take its eternal crown. From a well deserved, too belated retrospective at the Fashion Museum in Bath, one which began last month [1008] & will run for one year [to end in 1009].

Hans Olsen Bikini Chair Denmark Circa 1960's Hans Olsen for Rojle circa 1963 Bikini chair, a rare example by this noted designer, this progressive design was light years ahead of his contemporaries, with the compound forming of the wood, this was a extremely difficult process which created a limited production and a high unit cost. Perhaps the most imporant design Olsen's career. The linear grain appears to be a crosscut rosewood adding to the form of this piece becoming more a sculpture than a chair, but it is also incredibly comfortable as well. Done in a fine Italian leather this chair would make a great addition to ones collection of rare modernist designs.
