An incredible 1930's bias gown in shimmering iridescent lavender to cornflower taffeta. Fantastic oversized quilted (trapunto) halter collar and winged shoulders. Sexy, open squared back. Body conscious bias skirt that flares to a dramatic, quilted hem. Matching belt. Dress has a very narrow 3 snap side closure... for ease of dressing you may want to consider opening the side seam to accomodate at least another snap.

This vintage blouse pattern from the 1930s is SO PRETTY, it will appeal to even the most devoted tailored suit person. It is a wrap blouse with a saddle yoke at the shoulder and flowing, elbow-length sleeves. There is shirring at the shoulders in the front and ties that wrap around the back and meet at the front waist. You will want a medium to lightweight fabric with a nice drape. Silk, voile, rayon, gauze and chiffon are all great. It looks as great with a skirt as it does with jeans.

This early 1930's cotton day dress has ivory and burgundy flowers scattered over a pale green background. The bodice has a cute mini-sweetheart neckline, slightly puffed sleeves, and 9 decorative, carnelian-colored, molded plastic buttons. The skirt has two pleats on each side, sewn down until the hip, and then released to the hem. The original belt has a matching fabric-covered buckle. The dress fastens with snaps at the side seam, and a tiny button at the back of the neck. Housedresses like this one were meant to fit loosely, so please compare to a garment you have for best fit. It is probably a petite, since the shoulder to waist measurement is proportionally shorter. Bust: measures 50" flat, to fit up to a 46" loosely Waist: 44" flat, up to 41" loosely Hip: 50" flat, up to 46" loosely Length: 41" Shoulder seam-to-seam: 18" Shoulder to waist length: 15.5"

The olive and purple silk of this late 30's or very early 40's dress has a print of leaping deer and abstract flowers. The fabric is quite fine, a lightweight silk, with a feel almost like lingerie. The front and the back of the dress are each decorated with small bows. In front, a bow ties the "keyhole" opening closed, gathering the fabric below the v-neckline. In back, the fabric across the hips is softly gathered into the bow, creating a modified "bustle" effect. The waist seam comes to a point in the center front and another point above the bow in the back. The long sleeves have puffed shoulders, but no shoulder pads, and snaps at the wrists. Bust: 34-36" Ribcage: 30" Waist: 28-29" Hip: 34-36"

#6628 - c. 1930's Unique Print Gauzy Gown! Unique open-weave gauzy material (probably a cotton/linen blend - though doesn't seem prone to wrinkling) and even more unique print design of an Aesop Fable "The Fox and the Grapes". Looks like it was silkscreen printed with fun dancing foxes. He is clothed and carries a basket while standing under the grapes, which (according to the fable by Aesop -500BC), the fox is unable to reach. Plunging "v" neckline, diamond shape at cleavage with runching, dropped waist, side metal zipper, floor length with sweeping full skirt. A great collector's piece! Measures: 34/35" bust, up to 28" waist, 62" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition with just two extremely minor issues... the zipper is sticky, but works and there are two teeny spots at mid-back (see last photo). Big deal!

Tired of black? Get some color in your vintage wardrobe! How's this for different! Bright blue lace gown in a floral pattern bordered with Art Deco zig-zags It features extremely chic gigot sleeves that were the height of fashion in the early to mid-30s - they were heralded as an 1830s "revisited" style. There is a bit of horsehair inside upper sleeve to attain a puff. The sexy low back dips seductively, and the row of 13 buttons. The waist is slightly raised in front and dips lower in back to emphasize curvy hips; the bias skirt falls gracefully to the floor. The original silky rayon underdress also plays a major role - its vivid magenta border peeks through to accent a sweetheart neckline and straps; a 10" magenta hem border swirls around the ankles. So you can wear the gown with this slip, or change the look and choose a nude or white slip! It's up to you! However, you'll have to be tiny for this dress if you wear it with the original slip (or you'll have to somehow increase the size of the slip). There is no give to the side snap slip, and it measures: 30" bust, up to 27" waist, up to 39" hips, 58" long slip from shoulder to hem. The dress has some stretch and will fit on me (tightly) with 34" bust, 60" long. Excellent condition for both pieces! Strong lace! It looks like one button may be missing from the very bottom at back, and I see one seam separation at bottom of slip (ah, if only I had a sewing machine!). It's a delightful survivor of the romantic fashions of the 1930s - the Great Depression era.

You know... Bonnie Parker of Bonnie and Clyde? Or do you prefer to imagine the less larcenous Claudette Colbert? Either woman was famous for this tight sweater dressing! Now, I have to confess, I didn't take the photos of this dress since my mannequin has no legs... and without them, the knit skirt just wouldn't hang correctly. I suppose it's the same thing with the arms as well. But I'm pleased you can see how it's supposed to look. Simply smashing! The needlework is amazing...so beautifully done. The color is a dusty rose. Wide, ribbed and ruffled collar. Keyhole neckline closes with a single snap (has four tiny loops --meant for buttons?). Net-like crochet work is very delicate. Long, full sleeves end in a covered button cuff. Ribbed waistband. Slim, curvy, figure-hugging skirt is quite long. There is a narrow elastic band at the waist. Hemline is detailed with 2 inch band of fancy crochet. Overall, the sweater and skirt are in Excellent condition with only tiny snags, but nothing important. Measures: SKIRT - 26" waist (will stretch to about 36"), 32" hips (will stretch to 42"), 36" in length. SWEATER:14" across the shoulders, 25" sleeves, 34" bust (should fit up to a 38"), 25" waist (will stretch to about 36"), 20" in length from shoulder to waist.

Materials: Black crepe (probably rayon or acetate), plush black cut velvet (also called burnout) in a palm fronds pattern Description: A wonderful frock to find in this size range! It's mid-30s and chic in all-black with a square neckline framed by a cut velvet yoke. They did some marvelous things with sleeves in the 30s - these are deflated puffs in panels of cut velvet & crepe, lined in net and rather flirty. There's a cut velvet bow accent at the neck (detachable), and the silhouette is straight with just a bit of tailoring to the waist seam and princess seams of the skirt. Original self belt included with a terrific cut velvet belt buckle.

Absolutely beautiful, museum-quality vintage 1930's evening gown by the legendary Liberty and Co, London. A rare treat in stunning condition. Soft black velvet gown with rounded neckline, long sleeves and fitted cuffs which have tiny worked buttons and loops to narrow the fit if necessary. The bodice falls in delicate folds to the waist, front and back. The discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in the early 1920's fuelled the art deco period's taste for Egyptian inspired design, and this is reflected in the exquisite gold thread smocking which decorates the neckline, cuffs and waist of this fantastic gown. Under the smocked waist panel, the skirt flares gently to the floor, and is finished with an elegant scalloped hemline. Poppers at the left shoulder and poppers/hook and eye fastening opening at the left side. The Liberty and Co label is inside at the waist.

Cape collars on dresses and jackets were a popular design in the early 1930's, and this black crepe "capelet" with silver glass beading dates from that period. It may have been worn originally with a plain black crepe dress (or attached to one), but it will add a touch of elegance and evening glamour to any dress, vintage or modern. The capelet ties in front. The areas next to the ties and all around the outer edge are thickly covered in rows of silvered glass bugle beads. In between the rows of bugle beads are squiggles made of tiny round glass beads. The back of the capelet is unlined, so you can see the threads holding the beadwork on, which in one area are discolored (the threads only--not visible on the front side). This is the only issue with the capelet, which is in very good condition. It will drape over the edge of the shoulders when worn, and has a cute "V" cutout in the center back.
