Get Organized In The New Year with These Clutter-Reducing Tips!
by Kristin
Is your New Year's resolution to organize your closet, your house, your life? If the things around you in your everyday life are in order, you might find yourself with a more orderly mind as well. So we've found some great storage items to help you reduce the clutter in your home - and maybe add to its beauty at the same time! Look for furniture that does double duty, such as a trunk-style coffee table in which you can store magazines and books. Put clothing you don't use year-round under your bed and out of the way. Hang CDs and DVDs from a door with a media rack. Save space with shelves that lean against the wall instead of a bulkier bookcase. Or put up photos on an interesting wall shelf from West Elm. You're sure to clear up space and clear your head. Check out the SLIDESHOW!
Home Style: Put The Kitsch Back In Your Kitchen
You know what I miss? Retro-styled kitchens. You know, the kind with the glass jars and the soft colors that transport you to a time when ice cream sundaes trumped crème brulées... when gas prices didn't induce hyperventilation... when milkshakes only came in one size, big enough to share with your sweetheart.... Okay! Done daydreaming. Anyway, I'm not saying you have to turn back the clock completely, but a soda fountain-esque straw holder here and an old-fashioned toaster there (or my personal favorite, the Artisan KitchenAid Stand Mixer in 'Pistachio') all add a certain charm to even the most contemporary of kitchens. So prop yourself up on one of those cushy red bar stools, pop a dime in the jukebox, and browse through my slideshow of retro kitchen decor. I'm off to go find a malted milkshake.
