Description

Two cheeses can make a picnic or spring gathering all the more memorable. Our choice: a wedge of Bleu de Laqueuille, from the mountainous Auvergne region of France, and a round of Livarot from Normandy. Bleu de Laqueuille is a blue cheese with salty, full-bodied flavor and a creamy texture; it pairs especially well with any robust red wine. Livarot is easily distinguished by its strong aroma and the five strips of bright orange raffia that help maintain its form during ripening. During aging, the round of Livarot is regularly washed with calvados, the distilled apple cider. Both cheeses are produced from cow’s milk – a labor of love for the artisans who patiently nurture them to optimal ripeness and peak flavor. 8-oz. wedge of Bleu de Laqueuille, 7.5-oz. round of Livarot.
