Vintage 1940s or 50s pair of religious chalkware and wood bookends. Madonna and Jesus figures are made of chalk and are very angular in style and beautifully detailed. Painted in a copper finish with verdigris in the crevices. Busts sit on wooden bases in front of oval wooden backgrounds. Really lovely... Foil stickers on the bases read: Mazzolini Artcraft Co. 1607 East 41st Street Cleveland 3, Ohio These measure almost 7 ¼ inches tall and 6 ¾ inches wide.
