Label Love: Minimarket Takes The World (& Sea) By Storm!

    by Alex Gambardella

Swedish label Minimarket, founded by sisters Sofie, Pernilla and Jennifer Elvestedt back in 2006, has already snatched up multiple highly-coveted fashion awards in their short 4 years in business, like "Best New Designer" and "Best Designer of the Year" courtesy of Swedish Elle. So for their Spring/Summer 2010 collection, the girls decided to go out on a limb and go even more "out there." The result? A collection that draws inspiration from both the ocean... and outer space! With astronaut-inspired boots, goggle-like sunglasses, wavy ruffles, shoulder pads that mimic the angles of manta ray wings, and prints that make fish scales look fashionable, the line proves that their combined imagination can be described as anything but mini! Take a look at the slideshow for a peek at their latest sky-meets-sea collection!

Stone Jewelry For An Earthy Look That Really Rocks

    by Alex Gambardella

Please excuse the mind-numbingly silly title pun, but I do think it makes a valid point. Normally when you think of stone jewelry, you get beads made to look like pebbles, perfectly-formed round marbles that are supposed to be agate, or teal chunks of plastic made to look like turquoise. The stone jewelry I'm talking about, however, is no joke. I'm talkin' jewelry that looks like you ran to Pebble Beach, scooped up a handful of rocks, and somehow fashioned a necklace out of it. Realistically though, unless you have that sort of jewelry-making talent and therefore don't need my shopping guidance, that type of literal fresh-off-the-beach naturalness isn't going to happen. Luckily, the latest trend in stone jewelry helps capture that same raw earthiness with real stones -- whether in the form of a natural-cut turquoise ring or a bib necklace made from shiny agate. The result, though technically natural, has an unexpectedly dressed-up feel, yet with a laid-back vacation-y vibe that's perfect for summer! Check out the slideshow for my favorite stone jewelry this season!
