Retro Art Glass: Tremendous architectural glass red floor vase
Description
Nearly 3 foot tall blown glass giant.
Massive. Sits next to a normal size wine glass in image above, next to a slightly larger than normal chair in image 1, and next to a 16.5' tall balloon vase in image 2. This glorious vase measures 36' tall, weighs 8 lbs.
These vases were popular in the 1960s to 1970s. Most of the largest that are found today are by Smith Glass. It is either from Smith Glass or Viking Art Glass.
Blown out from a mold and then swung and hand-tooled. Very hard to do.
This one is special because it has free-form on the body. The body looks cylindrical but it is not. The shape is more of a triangle with side widths of 7', 8' and 9'. The cirumference at the largest width is 26'.
