for anyone who’s ever wanted an insanely smiling, vaguely demonic purple thingie for their mantle… or something that looks like the love child of a cyclops and the cheshire cat… people, your prayers have been answered! this mirthful fellow with the john wayne gacy smile is named simply “object”, by kenny scharf. according to the good folks at cerealart, scharf had the idea to design it back in the 1980’s. it’s been on the back burner for a while, a project that cerealart has finally unleashed upon an unsuspecting world. it celebrates those aspects of pop culture that scharf holds dear: cartoons, psychedelia and, apparently, those nightmares that you have after eating too much spicy food. (and if you think this guy holds just a passing resemblance to scharf’s cateyeguy… well, you’d be right) glazed ceramic.
