This is one of my signature designs, an "armpot".
I throw the vase on my wheel, and tweak it a bit before I handbuild and sculpt it's arms. The resulting figure and it's gesture are quite expressive; I love the reactions people have to these pots. All are signed and dated.
I use local clay from Georgia called Lizella, and fire to cone 6 in an electric kiln.
This armpot is either being surprised or surprising someone else. I love this blue glaze, it's really beautiful. It stands 7 3/4" tall and 4 1/4" from elbow to elbow. The fingers on this guy are really lovely; just like ours...
