It's Christmas day. You open a gift. It's a tie. You can say that this type of gift is a cliche and boring, but with the increasing amount of men walking that dapper line of style, a tie would probably be an excellent gift. In fact, giving one to a guy who doesn't put much thought into what he wears would probably encourage him to start amping up his style. But be wary when you are giving ties as gifts. Avoid novelty ties €“ I repeat: AVOID NOVELTY TIES. They are just tacky and belong in that Chuck E. Cheese prize ticket display case. Instead, go for either a striped, a solid, or a beautiful jacquard. But if you do have a hankerin' to add some whimsy, opt for one with small details that make the tie fun (check out the Psycho Bunny tie). And if you do know someone who has an eccentric personality, get a tie that matches him. The brightly patterned Missoni silk tie is quite tasty, and the black and white floral Moschino tie is dandy. Check out the SLIDESHOW for these and other pieces of neckwear that would fit well underneath the Christmas tree.
