What To Pack For Your Spring Break Getaway!

If you're like me and shivering under blankets or still wearing sweaters and boots, now might be the best time to plan your spring break getaway. Whether you're going south of the border or perhaps the beaches of Miami, any place with sun and surf is worth going to! So you've got the location down, now it's time to plan what you're going to pack. When going on vacation, it's always tempting to try out a new style you wouldn't necessarily wear at home. However, the worst thing is to feel uncomfortable or self-conscious, during your well-deserved vacation no less! So stick to your style and stay with neutral colors you can mix and match. You can always be adventurous with the accessories you buy wherever you go, whether it's an armful of stacked bangles or a quintessential statement necklace.

Another hint: making a list of what to pack is important because it will lessen the chance of forgetting something. The last time I forgot to pack without using a list, I didn't bring socks or a toothbrush! Read on to see my list of spring break travel essentials and check out the slideshow for more ideas. Just remember to leave extra space in your suitcase or pack an empty bag for all the goodies you'll be buying!

1. Bikini: Find a bikini style that works for you. I prefer bandeau tops because they offer more support than triangle bikinis. Many Web sites can help you find the perfect bikini that works with your body type. If you're more modest, go for a tankini or a flattering one-piece.
2. Sunglasses: I like aviators because they work well with almost everyone. Make sure the sunglasses you get have UV protection!
3. Metallic flip flops: Gold or silver flip flops can go with almost anything and are super easy to slip on and off at the poolside or at the beach.
4. Espadrilles: My favorite summer shoes are comfortable and stylish! Espadrilles come in a variety of colors and heights to suit anyone.
5. Shirt Dress: I like to pack a shirt dress because it can be dressed up or down with the right accessories. They can even double as a coverup if you can't spare anymore room in your bag.
6. Sarong: A sarong is an absolute must. Wear it was a scarf on the freezing airplane, make it a trendy halter top, or wrap it around your waist after a refreshing dip in the water!
7. Coverup: When you've had enough sun but still want to stay outdoors, a coverup is great for keeping you, well, covered up.
8. Beach Bag: A beach bag should hold everything you need from a beach towel, sunscreen, bottled water, and a good book.
9. Lightweight cardigan: A lightweight cardigan is great because you never know when the weather can get a little chilly.
10. Floppy Hat: Another great way to provide some sun protection for your face and discreetly people watch too.
11. Sunscreen: This one is totally not optional! Prolonged sun exposure without good sunscreen can lead to skin damage or worse, cancer.
