If you haven't heard of Gemma Slack, you probably will soon, especially considering Fergie just donned one of her futuristic dresses in the Black Eyed Peas "Imma Be" music video. This UK born designer graduated from the London College of Fashion, but before her turn as a designer she focused on painting and sculpture. After finding her calling in fashion she went through a two year apprenticeship with Gareth Pugh. Not long after, she started her own line for spring 2010. Her sculpture background is evident in her interesting shapes and structured garments, she turns extraordinary materials into tailored garments. She draws inspiration from the dark and gothic in addition to old military armor. The Spring 2010 collection paired super structured leather and metal paneled corsets and bustiers with shredded and cut out mini dresses. For Fall 2010 she ventured into the land of menswear showing slim leather pants, jackets and some crazy mid drift baring tops. While her looks may not be for everyday wear, they are a welcome touch of darkness to any closet.
