Having just a casual interest in sports, I've only ever picked up a copy of Sports Illustrated once a year -- for the ever-famous swimsuit issue. That's actually a statistic I share with many of my sports-loving guy friends, however while they pick up the sexy edition to ogle at and cut out pin-ups of pretty girls, I need to flip the pages to see this season's newest beach attire. Of course, in my younger days, I dreamt of once becoming one of those girls wearing an itty-bitty swimsuit. (Well, who wouldn't want to wear hot swim suits on the set of a photoshoot in an exotic paradise?). These girls are the icons of summer, with their smooth sun-kissed skin and tide-tousled locks. Dream we may about being Brooklyn Decker or Bar Rafaeli, but we mere mortals can achieve Sport's Illustrated sexiness with the application of a few of these Lucia Dvorska and the like-inspired tricks. Read on and try the tips from this guide on transforming yourself into a seaside SI swimsuit model!
1. First things first -- some things you just can't fake. The beautiful bodies in Sports Illustrated are there for a reason -- they're heavenly hot. Now's the time to start hitting the mat, track and dumbbells to get your body lean like you'd like it to be. 2. The less you wear the better. This one goes hand in hand with staying in shape -- the more fit you are, the more you can pull off wearing less. I wouldn't go as far as walking the beach wearing only body-paint, but strings and skin are well-welcomed trends at the beach. Speaking of strings, I'm obsessed with this CHIO set worn by SI model Esti Ginzberg. Quite honestly, though, any suit you see on the pages of SI's swimsuit issue will do.3. Since we've got to show it off, we've got smooth it out. Your skin's been under layers of warm clothing all winter long so it should definitely undergo a beach-readying routine. A good scrub is suggested to shed winter's woes, but you're not going to want something too harsh so that the sun and sand will irritate your outsides. Try an exfoliant like Fresh's remedy for getting soft and younger skin with mild ingredients such as sugars and fruits. 4. Now that you're smooth, how 'bout some color? What you need now is a sunless tanning system to get a look that'll have others thinking you wereborn on a beach. Try Brit-made and bank-friendly Boots sunless tanning starter kit. And to ensure that you've taken care of that bright, blinding glow that's produced after months of hibernation a bit of brightening bronzer may be just the trick to finish off your flawless, fake tan. Something like Victoria's Secret's brazilian bronzer is one way to fool 'em, and this option is also a firming lotion as well to keep our parts in place!5. Nothing's more whimsical than a beach beauty's golden tinted hair blowing in the sea breeze. Sometimes a little bit of a change in your hair color can be the fastest way to spring your look towards summer. Whether you're lucky enough to get highlights compliments of hanging out in the sun or you've got a stellar colorist to do the job, a bit of color to an SI model wannabe's coif isn't a bad idea. 6. Waves aren't only in the water. Give those strands a taste of what it€™s like to ride the high tide with some texture. Bumble and bumble's spray can bring in the surf with lots of undulating detail. 7. At the beach, a fresh face is best to avoid the unwanted running of over-done makeup, but it's okay to add flair to your natural foundation. Looking good is important, but you should always protect what mama gave you. A powder or foundation with some SPF is essential for your day out in the sun. Not only does Clinique have powders with powerful sun protection, they've got an entire skin system to ensure that you get the SPF you need. Also, don't forget about the season's summer colors. A bit of a light, natural color for your lips can go a long way. Try a light color like petting pink from MAC with some SPF ... your lips will thank you. Oh yeah, and don't even try your luck with your usual daytime mascara unless you favor the raccoon look: slack on some waterproof color -- it will save your wet and wild fun from becoming disastrous. 8. Last but not least -- Sexy is a peace of mind. Whatever it takes for you to feel your sexiest, whether it's watching music videos of Britney Spears, or posing seductively for yourself in front of a candle-lit mirror, a little bit of self-confidence boosting is never a bad thing to pack along with some poolside poise. The ladies of SI bare a lot, but they certainly don't let insecurities show!
