Project Runway Alum Jerell Scott Launches His Fall Collection With Macy Gray!

Don't you just love seeing Project Runway castoffs rise from the ashes and really do something with their talent? We've seen plenty of Christian Siriano in the fashion week circuit, and even some strange Santino Rice cameos on various reality shows.. but now it's Jerell Scott's turn. The season 5 veteran launched his Fall 2009 collection at One Take Studio in downtown LA this past weekend over drinks and hors d'oeuvres... and an opening performance by Macy Gray! The intimate venue provided guests with an up-close look at the collection, including an accompanying photo exhibit by E Leon Myers and even an exclusive sneak preview at his upcoming Spring 2010 line. Inspired by indigenous people all over the world, the collection boasted flowing fabrics, bold prints and an undeniable tribal energy that foreshadowed many innovative and promising things to come from the designer! Take a look at the slideshow for some pictures of the event and his collection!

Korto Says She's "Annoyed" Over Project Runway Elimination. Catch Our Exclusive Interview Here!

Most of us cannot even imagine what it must be like to be in the final two, knowing full well that one person is about to realize her dream while the other will have fallen short. It's just the scenario that played out on last night's Project Runway finale, where the last five minutes saw Leanne and Korto waiting to hear Heidi say just one name. Korto's disappointment was palpable as her face fell at the announcement- it couldn't have been more of a departure from the elation she exhibited during the runway show. I spoke to Korto about her reaction, her thoughts on Leanne's work, and her future plans. Read on to find out what she had to say, and click the SLIDESHOW to see her collection on the runway at Bryant Park.

Leanne Wins Project Runway! Catch Our Exclusive Interview!

Last night season five of Project Runway came to a close, and between the excitement, exhaustion, and emotions that came with showing at Bryant Park, it was truly anyone's game. Tim told the remaining designers they'd need to edit their collections down to 10 pieces each, and so the process began. Kenley struggled with how she would use the "McQueen" gown from before, as Korto opted to create two entirely new pieces, no longer feeling entirely confident about her wedding dress. Meanwhile, Leanne got to work finishing up her collection.
Showtime! The big day finally arrived and the designers put the final touches on their looks and models before showing off months and months of hard work to their families, friends, and the world. Then, a change of plans- the guest judge backed out last minute, and Tim Gunn was called to fill in! Would his behind-the-scenes knowledge of the designers' work and their plans influence his judging? No time to wonder- the show was set to begin. It all went smoothly and each designer truly embraced the moment- who could forget Korto taking her daughter along for her walk? But then things calmed down as Kenley, Korto, and Leanne were called before the judges, who praised each of their collections as quintessentially their own. Kenley was the first to be sent home, and the silence was deafening as Korto and Leanne stood there waiting to hear the one name that would change their lives and careers forever. Finally, Leanne was named the winner. I had the chance to speak with her about her reaction, her thoughts on the other designers, and her plans. Read on to see what she had to say!
