A Love Letter To Kate Winslet

Ah, Kate Winslet €“ she is a vision on the red carpet. When she scooped up two Golden Globe Awards in a strapless and simple Yves Saint Laurent gown, women all over the world got misty eyed and men swooned (yes, men can swoon too). Her fashion sense off-screen may be impeccable, but have you seen her in Revolutionary Road with her BFF Leonardo DiCaprio (in case you don't remember, he starred with her in a little movie called Titanic)? She looks just as flawless and costume designer Albert Wolsky got nominated for his retro surburban costuming skills. Based in the late fifties, Winslet plays the role of April Wheeler, a suburban housewife who is desperately trying to keep the shattered pieces of her marriage together. Wolsky was on point dressing her in pristine postwar garb: cinched waists, simple-chic party dresses and even at the beach she has the aura of a retro model. The overall look of the film was like "Mad Men" but less cartoony. Wolsky did a marvelous job of juxtaposing sartorial suburban perfection on the outside with damaged goods on the inside. In turn, Winslet shined in this opus of suburban angst with revolutionary style.

Get That Golden Globes Glow With Celeb-Tested Bare-Faced Beauty Tips!

The Golden Globes may have come and gone (leaving Oscar buzz in the air!), but it's definitely not too late to pick up some fresh-faced beauty tips straight from the red carpet! While the paparazzi parade to the big event is commonly an outlet for dramatic red lips and come-hither smokey eyes, many of this year's nominees and attendees opted for a noticeably more natural makeup look. Though settling on more bare-faced, bone-hued beauty may seem boring or inappropriate for one of Hollywood's most dramatic nights, this fair-toned style actually fared quite well for the event's lovely leading ladies. From shimmering subtle shades of gold to pale rosy pinks, stunning starlets like Megan Fox and Eva Mendes proved that delicate hues are anything but dull! Check out the slideshow for more natural-hued makeup looks and the products you can use to achieve them, straight from some of A-list's elite! Photo credit: PR Photos

A Night Of Fashion And Film At The Golden Globes!

This year, the Golden Globes featured one win for the beloved Heath Ledger, two wins for a tearful Kate Winslet, a handful for the spirited "Slumdog Millionaire," and a hilarious acceptance speech by 30 Rock's Tracy Morgan. But of course, who can forget the fashion? So we've rounded up some photos of film and TV's glamorous stars in case you missed the show and want to see what everyone was wearing. Eva Mendes donned a white silk Dior gown with a bold necklace from Van Cleef & Arpels private collection. Drew Barrymore channeled Marilyn Monroe in Dior Haute Couture custom made by John Galliano and a platinum bob. And Olivia Wilde wore a pretty ruffled Reem Acra dress in violet. Want to see more? Monday's Top Style + Design Headline

I don€™t know about you, but last night I took a cue from the writers and embarked on a strike of my own. As a reaction to being bereft of fabulous red carpet fashions for this year€™s Golden Globes, I angrily decided not to even bother tuning in to announcements of who won. This morning, however, curiosity got the best of me, and my strike came to an end. Luckily, I found a wonderful antidote for my consuming need to know that simultaneously satiated by craving for a red-carpet fashion-fix. Read on for InStyle.com€™s roundup of last night€™s winners which includes an examination of their signature styles as well as a look back at winning looks from less drama-filled award seasons.

Tuesday's Top Style + Design Headlines

While I would much rather remain in a state of blissful denial, I think it€™s time to accept the fact that this years Golden Globes ceremony (aka the FUN version of the Oscars) will be on hiatus this season, making it the first major casualty of the War of the Writers- and seriously, what a way to get the point across. It pains me immensely to consider the fact that this year, all we have to look forward to is an hour long news broad cast announcing the winners. How can that EVER compare to a red carpet replete with couture gowns, Joan Rivers€™ ranting and raving like a Loony-toon, scrutinizing who looked hot and whose stylist should be shot, the anxious anticipation to see which couples will arrive together- (and the subsequent months of speculation: are they engaged? Secretly Married? Baby on board?)
