City Style: The Rusty Knot Turns Manhattan Into Gilligan's Island (In a Good Way)

Taavo Somer has followed up his hit Bowery restaurant Freeman's with The Rusty Knot, a nautical-themed dive-ish bar on Manhattan's far west side (right up against the West Side Highway and the Hudson River). But don't let the unassuming description fool you - there's a line of prepped out hipsters out the door at 6:30. Somer teamed with Spotted Pig owner Ken Friedman to create the studiously low-key joint (we're talking Busch beer on tap, peel-and-eat shrimp, and pigs-in-blankets, along with some modestly more upscale fare). Which is what makes TRK, like the taxidermy-filled Freeman's when it opened, special. There ain't nothing else like it in Manhattan, folks. So get there early and stay late (its open until 4 am) on your own personal Gilligan's Island. Click here for a hilarious video tribute to The Knot.

City Style: San Francisco's Apartment 24 Is Party Perfect

House party? Great. Apartment party? We'll show up. But an Apartment 24 party? Now we're talking. Designer Jacek Ostoya brings retro-glam style to the North Beach area of San Francisco's newest nightclub and bar scene. Modeled after a rock star's apartment complete with wild wallpaper, ultra-mod lighting, and a zebra wood bar, no detail has been spared. Two VIP areas, a catwalk, and some of the nation's top DJs complete Apartment 24's rockin' ambiance. Click SEE SLIDESHOW and get ready to dance the night away.

City Style: Acrimony Offers A True Bite Of San Francisco Style

Acrimony: a harsh or biting sharpness especially of words, manner, or disposition. Also the name of the newest and edgiest boutique to hit San Francisco in ages. And for a city whose eclectic style is so misrepresented by Union Square's mundane offerings, it's quite the welcome addition. But Acrimony? That's not your typical boutique name by any means, an indication to shoppers that the expected is not what's in store. "I wanted to bring something new, fresh, different to SF-- there are people dying for it here," Acrimony's owner Jenny Chung told me. And one look around the space, from the imported Nekoshogun art on the walls to the custom-made pipe racks showcasing label after label I had never heard of made it all the more clear that Acrimony is not afraid to be a bit shocking-- shoppers want to be surprised by fashion, influenced by fashion, and the store combats that 'seen it all before' notion with a mixture of edge and grace. With new lines in the works for fall and a collection of international labels that SF shoppers could previously only dream of, it's clear that Acrimony isn't going to let its "new kid on the block" status define it for long. City Style: San Francisco's Foreign Cinema Is Dinner and a Movie Done Right

Sunny San Francisco days call for lazy mornings, leisurely walks, and long brunches, so when the weekend finally rolls around, head over to Foreign Cinema. Tucked away in SF's lively Mission district, the restaurant is known for the foreign and independent films shown in the outdoor courtyard, during which guests can dine and drink to their hearts', stomachs', and minds' content, though brunch is equally delectable. I wandered down to the "industrial-chic" establishment a few Saturday mornings ago to see for myself, and let's just say my go-to brunch place across from my apartment has some serious, high-ceilinged and white tableclothed competition. City Style: Moscow's Fabrique Nightclub Closes at Dawn!

Though I'm sure many would beg to differ, I'm going to say it anyway - you can't shop forever. Cara & Co or anywhere else, you're going to need a break, the same way that hours upon hours on end at Moscow's top restaurants or hotels would have you craving a bit of a release. Seeing as Moscow's known for its ultra-energetic nightlife, you've come to the right city, but you won't be in the right place until you hit up Fabrique. Between the super slick interiors, international DJs playing the best club music in Moscow, and a cozy-chic V.I.P. room, Fabrique is definitely the place to be when you're in the mood to party with 1,500 beautiful people - no kidding here, watch out for face control, or maybe wait until the jetlag passes. Click READ MORE for more on Fabrique or SEE SLIDESHOW for some pretty piccies!

City Style: Turandot Offers A Taste Old World Opulence In Modern Moscow

Opulence in Russia is a kind all its own - unapologetic without being ostentatious, all while never compromising a mere ounce of luxury. Case in point- Turandot, Moscow's hotspot for contemporary Pan-Asian cuisine. Set amidst Old World Russian decor, the $50 million establishment took six years to build and is modeled after a Baroque palace, though one look at the gilded interior and it could easily pass for the original. Leave the caviar next door at Cafe Pushkin, Moscow's premier place for regal Russian cuisine, and indulge in spreads of sushi, dim sum, and wasabi prawns, all presented by hostesses dressed in 18th century-style silk gowns. A harpist offers melodies to complement the Turandot experience.
