New York Fashion Week Runway: Carlos Miele Brings Red Carpet Drama

Brazilian designer Carlos Miele delivers once again with stunning looks for ladies who lunch and for anyone who needs a distinctive dress for special occasions. Models walked down the runway while maneuvering around singer-songwriter Max de Castro as he serenaded the audience with a seafoam green guitar. Miele showed some smart origami-like techniques that embellished the necklines and fitted bodices of silk satin cocktail dresses. Some of my favorite looks included dresses that mixed prints and solids. For those chilly nights at all those galas you'll be attending, throw on a bolero which came in furs, knits, and chiffon. Beauty looks included smokey winged-out eye shadow, natural lip color, and pulled back hair. Take a look at the slideshow for more glamorous looks fit for red carpet events.

Style Party: Carlos Miele's Resort '08 Collection Bash!

Last week, beloved Brazilian designer Carlos Miele opened up his penthouse apartment in New York€™s super-hot meatpacking district to a select few fashionistas to present his resort collection. Of course, Stylehive was right there to capture it all! There were about 30 people taking in the designer€™s work, including Vogue€™s Meredith Melling Burke, Paper Magazine€™s Mickey Boardman, and famed fashion reporter Judy Licht. The crowd sipped caipirinhas and listened to live bossa nova on the designer€™s rooftop while models loitered about wearing his glamorous, diaphanous designs. NYFW Trend Report: Fall Goes Glam With Gold

When I asked for his fall 2008 predictions,Vogue's editor-at large André Leon Talley told me there was going to be a move towards a new sensibility of romance with "rich gold- gold as Fort Knox- lot of gold tones, lots of metallic shine"- bear in mind, this interview took place on day one of fashion week- when no one really knows which direction the trends will move toward. I was a bit skeptical by André's prediction at first- I mean, haven't we had enough of the metallic craze? Apparently not, because but not surprisingly, he was right, and as the days went on and I hopped from one show to the next, I noticed that almost every collection was enlivened with the help of glimmery shimmery golds. We saw gold floral lamé dresses, gold trench-coats, sheer gold tops, gold bodice dresses, gold shift dresses, gold pintucked a-line skirts, gold pencil skirts, Matelasse gold, jacquard gold, shimmery gold, gold coins, gold leopards- you get the picture!
