The DIY (Do-It-Yourself) fashion movement is growing in popularity thanks in no small part to the popularity of Bravo TV's Project Runway. And while not everyone is a fashion designer, with some sewing skills and ingenuity, anyone can make or modify her own fashion style.
Why not start by making a stunning entrance in the Shari Dress (above)? The sewing patterns on BurdaStyle bring DIY Fashion to another level.
The site, one of my absolute favorites, features downloadable tiled sewing patterns in PDF format which you can print from you computer.
But it's not just always about patterns. BurdaStyle is a sewing community with lots of how-tos and forums. Everyone is encouraged to make modifications to the main patterns, which are then added to the archive so you can see everything that's available.
Here are my three BurdaStyle fashions, perfect for the holidays! Natalie Zee Drieu is Senior Editor at CRAFT Magazine and blogs about her love of fashion on her personal blog, Coquette. See Natalie's hive here.
