As Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicks off today in New York City, its apparent that this year's festivities are going to be much more than a series of runways showing designers' new lines. Just as with every other entertainment outlet, from women's magazines to cable TV, it's all about celebs.
This season, Gwen Stefani, Nicky Hilton, and Chloe Sevigny are not only attending, but presenting at Bryant Park. Stefani's line L.A.M.B. was a huge success last year, and Sevigny is debuting a small, unnamed personal collection. As The New York Daily News states, "this week's Spring 2008 shows, celebs won't be sitting front row: They'll be the brains behind the designs...star fashionmakers are flooding the runways all at once."Celebrity-cum-designer isn't anything significantly new, but this year there seems to be a booming number of famous fashionistas.
