Brad Pitt is not only a Hollywood powerhouse, daddy of four, and hubby to the uber sexy Angelina Jolie - he's also continuing to help rebuild New Orleans on the second anniversary of the disastrous Hurricane Katrina, and our federal government's disastrous lack of response.
Architecture enthusiast Pitt, who bought a home in New Orleans' French Quarter in January, teamed up with Global Green USA to build energy efficient and affordable housing for victims of Hurricane Katrina soon after the storm. With winning designs by Matthew Berman and Andrew Kotchen announced early this year, construction has already begun on homes that will encompass the New Orleans' Ninth Ward. Combining energy saving appliances, windows, lightbulbs, and plumbing, these new eco homes will dramatically decrease energy and water bills by 75 and 50 percent respectively. Five single-family homes and approximately 18 apartments will be up by this time next year. It's great to see a star who sticks with his commitments after the cameras are gone.
