Stylehive Talks To Latest 'Make Me a Supermodel' Castoff

Make Me a Supermodel is really heating up! Last week, the pressure was palpable as the remaining contestants were told that there would be no photo shoot, and instead, the challenge would be all about the catwalk, specifically, the catwalk at Bryant Park. The boys did R. Scott French at the tents, and the girls did Form by Jerry Tam. Some really stepped it up, while others let nerves get the best of them. Katy actually did a spectacular job on the runway. However, she was harshly criticized, once again, for gaining an inch and not fully dedicating herself to slimming down, and once again, was placed in the bottom 3.

After surviving several stints in the bottom 3, Katy seemed confident that she would once again pull through. However, last night€™s episode revealed that this was not the case and the southern beauty was sent home.

Katy€™s strength and confidence in herself despite facing harsh criticisms from the judges and her fellow cast mates each week was really inspiring, and I know we're really gonna miss her! Stylehive just spoke to the latest bootee for her take on the show, her elimination, fighting past the negativity, and more.

Stylehive: What was the overall "Make Me A Supermodel" experience like?
Katy: This experience has been fantastic - the most amazing thing I can ever think of times 100. Things I would never have gotten to do on my own. I feel so blessed that because I look, according to the panel, average ,and I€™m not as skinny or whatever as the other girls, I have a more athletic body. That somebody gave me a chance and they let me get my foot in the door. It just seemed to be everything I needed. I learned so much from this.

Stylehive:You€™ve been in the bottom 3 several times but always pulled through. Were you shocked when you did eventually get voted off?
Katy: I was not shocked at all. Of course I wasn€™t ready to go home, and any extra time I could have been on the show would have just done nothing but benefit me in the long run as far as the career and the experience I could have gained. But I feel like every week that had gone by, the feedback wasn€™t as good as the week before, it seemed to be getting a little bit worse each time. So I really prepared myself. And fashion week, that was my dream, just to make it, just to see a show for once, and then just to be in the show, it€™s like €œare you kidding me?!€™ I really felt like I had really done a good job, I had made it as far as I could have possibly went and I was so happy.

Stylehive: So tell me more about walking during fashion week. That must have been really nerve-wracking!
Katy: Walking in fashion week was crazy! That€™s always been part of my dream, to make it to fashion week and have everybody watching me just kill it on the runway. And we had this great makeup and hair and there are fantastic people everywhere and the models were great and these beautiful clothes. It was so powerful, just being able to say €˜I walked in fashion week,€™ it was crazy! I wasn€™t that nervous because walking the runway is like my forte, that€™s the best feeling in the world for me. Even though I got butterflies, it doesn€™t really make me nervous because I knew that I would do a good job and I did and I had so much fun with it.

Stylehive: A lot of the cast members and judges said some pretty negative things to say, do you want to clear any of that up?
Katy: Well I haven€™t seen the episode, but it€™s okay, that€™s just to be expected for people to say things like that. It€™s a competition and I don€™t expect everyone to always like me. I definitely don€™t expect people to say "yeah, she did great all the time, never did anything she wasn€™t supposed to." The models, first of all, don€™t see me 24 hours a day, they can€™t always keep up with the other 10 people in the house. But I knew in my heart that if I went home that day that I had given it everything I could. So as far as anything negative that they had to say, that€™s fine, whatever, I can come up with millions of things to say about them. But I really don€™t care to. It€™s just to be expected, people are gonna be haters, and to be like "yeah she did a fantastic job even though she€™s my competition." I don€™t expect that at all!

Stylehive: What is your best style advice?
Katy: Moisturizer! Especially when you first wake up and get out of the shower. Moisturizer is so important. When you put it on before your makeup it makes it much smoother, it makes your face look very creamy and really textured. And also to fill in the lines, if that makes sense, it really just smoothes out your face. Also olive oil for your cuticles and avocado masks, all that€™s just great for your skin. And water: drink a ton of water! And as far as diet, for me what worked was a ton of water, and oatmeal in the morning. Clay our trainer told me if you€™re gonna have your carbs, try to have them in the morning, do the treadmill in the morning and just burn it all off, and do an extra hour at night if you can and run a few miles just do whatever you can. And just try to eat light but filling throughout the day. I€™m a grazer, so I€™ll always have an apple or a granola bar or something with me to eat all day long, but it€™s little things that are good for me, and then I€™ll have a salad or something for lunch and chicken or something for dinner.

Stylehive: What€™s next for you in terms of modeling?
Katy: Oh honey, I am not done yet. They have not seen the last of me! I€™m coming right back to New York. I€™m going home, my flight leaves in a few hours, so I€™m gonna visit my family and just catch up with everybody and just let everybody know that I€™m okay. I€™ve always wanted to move to New York, especially in the last year, and something was holding me back and I wasn€™t really sure what it was. But I feel like everything happens for a reason, and went Marc called for the show, and was like €˜Katy you got on the show€™ I was like €˜wow, that€™s why I never moved.€™ Even if I have to go home and I have nothing there, no money or whatever- that€™s how hungry I am for it. I just wanna come right back. I love the city, I love the energy, it€™s the city of dreams. It really is.
