NYFW Interview: Vogue's André Leon Talley Gives His Fall Fashion Predictions!

When I spotted Andre Leon Talley at the Baby Phat Fall '08 show, yes, THE Andre Leon Talley- editor-at-large for Vogue, one of the most influential people in the world when it comes to fashion, the man capable of intimidating even the most seasoned fashion insiders, the only man on the planet who can make a track suit and a big fur coat look chic- I knew if I didn€™t at least TRY to get an interview, I would be consumed with regret for the rest of my life!

When I nervously asked if he would be willing to give me a quick interview, I was over-the-moon ecstatic when he not only said yes, but was more than happy to dish on this season's fashion week and to share some inside tips to looking great and developing a unique personal style. And of course, I had to nab a picture for proof that I wasn't dreaming and really did interview ANDRE LEON TALLEY!!

Stylehive: What are your fashion predictions for fall 2008?
Andre Leon Talley: I€™m predicting a whole new sensibility of romance. Rich gold, gold as Fort Knox, lot of gold tones, lots of metallic shine, lots of wonderful, wonderful shapes. Romanticism again. People are afraid of the recession, and they€™re gonna go all out with their fashion statements.

Stylehive: What is your best advice for looking great?
ALT: The most important thing that anybody can do is get up with a positive attitude, positive energy, the mindset must be positive when you wake up. And the essential thing is grooming: shampooed hair, scrubbed face. The belt can be $4 or $400 it doesn€™t matter, it€™s all about the person and what they project inside.

Stylehive: What trends are you loving for spring?
ALT:The spring trend that I love the most is the return of flowers: the flower power print.

Stylehive: What shows are you looking forward to seeing?
ALT: I€™m looking forward to seeing Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Zac Posen, and Thom Browne, and I€™m looking very much forward to Marc Jacobs.
