Phillip Bloch Tells Stylehive That Style Can Be Learned! Yay!

Stylehive recently met up with fashion stylist extraordinaire, Phillip Bloch, where we eagerly jumped at the chance to pick his brain for a bit (I mean, what else is one to do when in the presence of Hollywood€™s designated €˜fashion guru!).

In addition to his keen eye for fashion and unique style insights, Phillip€™s charisma and quirkiness have earned him an international following, which keeps his social calendar jam-packed (in addition to serving as a guest correspondent for CNN, ABC, E!, Style Network, Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight, he's a frequent fixture on morning talk shows, and provides witty commentary on fashion and style for renowned magazines such as Elle and In Style).

Read on for our exclusive interview with the man everyone in the fashion industry wants a piece of.

Stylehive:What fall/winter trends do you love right now?
Phillip Bloch:The gloves! The ¾ sleeves and the gloves, it€™s just chic and it€™s elegant. And I€™m liking a lot of the boots, there€™s a lot of boots out right now and I love that look. There are so many, but I€™m loving the Louboutin€™s. Christian Louboutin is having such a moment right now. First it was the Manolos, then the Jimmy Choos, and now it€™s all about the Louboutins!

Stylehive:What is your best fashion advice?
PB: I think simplicity is best, like your dress, it۪s very simple, it۪s elegant (sidenote: I was wearing this dress by Abaet̩ in black and navy and being complimented on my outfit by Phillip Bloch kind of made my life complete!). I say for guys a lot of the time, put a turtle neck on- if you don۪t know what you۪re doing just put a turtleneck on. Get a nice cashmere turtleneck and put it on under a denim jacket, under a blazer, it always looks good. And stretching, stretching is really, really important.

Stylehive: Stretching?
PB: Yes, Stretching! (motions to his friend) He€™s a trainer, and we were actually just talking about how stretching is one of the best things you can do for your body and looking great in clothes. It€™s a really great fashion tip, and people don€™t even consider it a fashion tip. It€™s not about having a great body, you have to fit yourself into your clothes.

Stylehive: Favorite designers?
PB: I love Luisa Beccaria, for spring/summer Luisa Beccaria has a gorgeous collection. And I always love Carolina Herrera, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta- I love the classics. I think you can find fun great pieces to mix, it€™s all about mixing- a piece here, a piece there, you know, having personal style- some people have a lot of personal style and (gets distracted by someone walking by and doesn€™t look impressed) you know, at parties like this you always see all kinds of combinations!

Stylehive: Speaking of personal style, do you think style is something you€™re born with, or something that can be learned?
PB: I think both. I think some people are born with style and I think Nicole Richie is the perfect example of someone who was taught style. If you remember her before (grimaces), and then she worked with Rachel (Zoe) and people talk about her having Rachel€™s style- and there€™s a whole issue there, which I don€™t wanna get into because I€™m friends with both of them- but you know, Nicole learned a style and now it works for her.
