The latest episode of Make Me a Supermodel taught me a very valuable lesson- VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITES! I mean who wasn€™t saddened and angered to see gorgeous Casey get the boot?? What€™s wrong with you America?! Yes, Casey was quiet, reserved, and struggled a bit when it came to anything except standing there and looking beautiful, but so what!
Each week, this show teaches us that being a supermodel is about much more than just having a pretty face- you gotta have it all kids. In last week€™s episode, the models were challenged to create video look books, where every glance, motion, smile, eye brow raise, and so on was carefully scrutinized and one wrong gesture would lead to an immediate replacement. Next they had to show off their people skills by acting as brand ambassadors for Bloomingdales. The judges were horrified by Ben€™s €˜I€™m too cool for this attitude,€™ but voters must have found it endearing or something, because he was safe, and Casey was sent packing- tear.
Casey: It was definitely a challenge because whatever we said could be perceived in a negative way or a positive way. Being in the competition has been a big learning tool. I made sure that I did a lot of listening and learned from not only the judges but the other competitors. So I was a big observer.
Stylehive:You really seemed to be trying your best during the video shoot but couldn€™t really make it work and got replaced several times- what do you think went wrong?
Casey: There wasn€™t just one factor, but there was multiple factors going on at once. You don€™t always work great with everyone and the director was just one of those people I couldn€™t work very well with. And I kind of got that vibe from him so it took a little hit to my confidence so I backed off a little and once I went back with my all, I kind of had this feeling in the back of my head that this guy just doesn€™t like me and I think that worked against me.
Stylehive: It really looked like Ben was gonna be the one to go this week, so were you nervous when you were in the bottom 3?
Casey: I was in the bottom three with a very optimistic point of view, with the hopes that I would be able to stay and continue the competition. Being in the competition really opened my eyes to modeling and knowing that this is truly what I wanna do and I just kept my hopes high and I put positive thoughts out there thinking €˜I€™m gonna stay, I€™m gonna stay€™ and if I don€™t stay it€™s alright because I made I this far and it was a great experience. In my head I was going in there with the thought that Ben was gonna be gone, so it kind of took me off guard and surprised me a little, but I didn€™t let it cripple me, I just had to keep it cool.
Stylehive: There seems to be a battle of the sexes going on in the house- what was the deal with that?
Casey: When it came to the competition we made sure to go in with the state of mind that everyone is a competition. But there was this line- the guys really kept to the guys and the girls really kept to the girls. It was hard because we would always be asked the question €˜how do you think the girls are doing€™ instead of €˜how do you think all the other competitors are doing.€™ But towards the end there was definitely some tension between the guys and the girls and we just kind of kept our distance. Stylehive: Who do you think should win?
Casey: Well I honestly think I should win, I€™ve been doing great in the competition. Stylehive: This is true, but aside from you, who should win?
Casey: Probably Jay, but no- I honestly think Perry should win because he has a strong will and has been a strong competitor since day one- with a broken foot he had one of the best walks! And then he showed toward the end that he€™s one of the more focused ones in the group- even with his girlfriend or ex-girlfriend messing around.
Stylehive: What€™s next for you?
Casey: Well I live in Atlanta right now but I€™ll be moving to New York because that€™s where all the castings are. I€™m still always working on my walk and working on poses. My goal is to become one of the top models and use it to become successful in acting and music.
Stylehive: What do you think makes a girl look sexiest?
Casey: I€™ve actually come across this thought when I€™m thinking about modeling because it€™s always in my head, but modeling, in my opinion, isn€™t about looks, it€™s about presence. Everyone€™s beautiful in their own way and modeling is about making people want what you have, that lifestyle that you€™re portraying, the clothing you wear. There have been many instances where I€™ve talked to people who have a great amount of confidence and a huge presence and I€™ll be like €˜wow, I kind of want their life€™ and that€™s kind of what modeling is. So what I think makes girls look their sexiest is just having the great presence and confidence in themselves.
