StyleAdvice: The Right Shoes for Your Body Type - Flip Flop Frenzy

If you€™re lucky enough to live in a place where winters aren€™t too extreme, you€™ll probably try to live in your flip flops for as long as you possibly can. After all, what could be easier than slipping on a pair and running out of the house?

Ah, but there is a catch. Just because flip flops make our lives easier doesn€™t mean that they'll make us look better all of the time. So try out our tips to make the footwear faves flip, not flop.

If you have long, toned, slender legs, run. Far away from me. Just kidding.

You€™re lucky in that you can wear the flattest of flip flops, which just make average legs look shorter. That said, those with shorter or less defined legs should wear a sandal with a bit more height. Even just an inch of height is enough to elevate the eye and make you appear taller and thinner. However, any more than three inches or so of height becomes clunky, and looks ridiculous on even the thinnest of legs.

We can't get enough of Havaianas and the unbelievable array of colors and prints that they carry. Their basic flip flop offers the perfect amount of height, no matter your own, and as far as flip flops go, these are definitely a safe sandal standby. For a subtle wedge flip flop, try Mella's terry platform pair. The slight incline creates a more elegant look than your average sandal, but the fun terry material keeps it casual, and you get the leg lengthening effect of a heel with the ease of a flip flop!

Watch out for kitten heels. While they look (and sound) as cute as can be, the actual heel is situated inward compared to most pumps, making your calves and the rest of your legs look bigger.

The most important thing to remember is the height. As long as you give yourself an inch or two of elevation, you're free to wear whatever you please. Just promise you'll keep our tips in mind as you show off those toes!
