After trying on heel after heel that we suggested in our last two advice posts, we're sure your feet are due for a break. But before you slip into those skimmers, read on...
Ballet flats. They're adorable, but the general rule is that unless you're built like Sienna Miller or an Olsen twin, your best bet is to let them continue to exude their adorableness from the store display. A bit harsh? Yes, but you'll thank us later. After all, do you really want to make your legs look any shorter? That's what you're doing when you wear close-toed flats. But if you must wear the sneaky skimmers, opt for a pair with pointier toes, as they'll extend the leg line. Just try to avoid looking like the Wicked Witch of the West. Marc Jacobs' 'mouse' flats (the original ones) are wonderfully cute without the witch factor. If you like the look of flats but don't like how they look on, try a pair of wedges or platforms. The extra inches that the heel offers will give you the height you need to keep from looking shorter, and even just an inch or two can make make the difference, so there's no need to sacrifice comfort to get the look that you want. Dolce Vita's 'bridges' wedge is the perfect blend of height and comfort, not to mention style, and as for the platforms, here's an option that's thankfully not reminiscent of the Spice Girls circa 1997. Come on, you know you really really want them...Do: wear them with mini dresses and skirts, and pair pointy-toed ones with flared denimDon't: wear them with long skirts Check back every day this week for more helpful heel hints, and in the meantime, bookmark your favorite flats!Picture: moccasins and leather 'mouse' flats by Marc Jacobs, wedges by Dolce Vita.
