StyleAdvice: Adding Color When You've Got The Grays

Gray Area
Fall is upon us and wherever we are, we€™re seeing gray. But fear not- your wardrobe doesn€™t have to follow the weather report. Gray may be the new black, but your style doesn€™t have to be in the dark. So check out our tips for brightening up your autumn ensembles.

Hidden Jewels
Gray on its own has the potential to be incredibly chic, elegant, and well, dull. It was all over the runways and after awhile, we weren€™t all over it. However, adding a touch of color can give your outfit the pick-me-up it needs. Jewel tones like magentas, deep purples, emerald greens, and golden yellows pop against gray backdrops, so try a pair of gray wool pants with a silk jewel-toned top. Gray shorts with a demure chiffon top in a classic red or muted yellow hue is also an adorable combination.

Gray€™s Accessories
If you€™re a little hesitant to add so much color to your grays, a simple splash can be just as effective. Colorful leather or patent pumps jazz up a simple gray shift dress, and embellished flats add youthful glamour to gray pants. A bright patent clutch instantly livens up a gray cocktail or evening dress. Bold jewelry and statement-making baubles accent gray sweaterdresses, so look for bright gems and chunky jewels. Don€™t forget about scarves, hats, and belts!

Upgrade Your Grays
If you€™re not keen on the colors, add dimension to your gray pieces with metallic accents like sequins, paillettes, and beads, which work especially well on shorter dresses. Add a basic clutch in a not-so-basic color and you're good to go!

Still looking for ways to deal with those grays? Try a bright new nail color, or a shimmery jewel-toned eyeshadow. Gray has never looked better.
