Style Poll: Should Sharon Stone Have Been Sacked By Dior?

As you are all probably aware, Sharon Stone has been dropped as the face of Dior. The A-lister was ditched after she made what was considered to be insensitive comments regarding the earthquake in China, insinuating it was some sort of karmic repercussion for the Chinese treatment of Tibet, and causing a potential Chinese boycott of Dior.

Then in an interview with Cathy Horyn of The New York Times, Ms. Stone said that Dior distorted her apology, and after a call from Sidney Toledano, the chief executive of Dior, she said the following: €œI talked to Sidney and I said: €˜Let€™s get serious here. You guys know me very well. I€™m not going to apologize. I€™m certainly not going to apologize for something that isn€™t real and true €” not for face creams.€™€

We all know Ms. Stone has always been a Hollywood maverick, but the real question is this: should she have lost her contract? Or really, should any celebrity have to be so careful these days about what they say and do that they don€™t say or do anything at all? Are they not entitled to opinions and ideas, right or wrong? And why do we expect the beauties that represent our favorite products to be perfect? After all, they are just human.

We know if anyone is going to brush themselves off and get right back on the horse, it€™s her, and judging by the Times piece, it seems this has hardly fazed the Academy Award-nominated actress. If it turns out anything like the Kate Moss' cocaine fiasco, she might lose a contract or two, but there will be a ton of companies waiting in the wings to snatch her and her hotness right up. Agree with her or not, I give her kudos to her for sticking to her guns.
