Shop Savvy: Coast To Coast Consignment Store Roundup!

Spring is soon around the corner and you're wondering how you€™re going to afford some new duds to update your wardrobe. Well, when times get tough, the savvy get shopping-- at consignment stores, that is! These stores are a great place to sell some of your own stuff to make room for new, or just to go browse for some great deals. I€™ve rounded up some of the best stores from coast to coast to get everything from Gucci gowns to J.Crew suits, Miu Miu sandals to Nike Dunks, at a fraction of the price.

New York
Tokyo 7, 64 E 7th St, New York, NY: A hidden gem in the East Village. A perfect mix of old and new; this store tends to lean more towards €œdowntown€ savvy shopper looking for that off kilter designer piece at fraction of the price. Shoes are often a bit worn, but worth looking at since you can sometimes find a winner.

Ina, Multiple locations in Manhattan and an online boutique: Mostly designer at about a quarter of the price. A well edited store of slightly worn high end designer, but beware this is the cast off place for editors and models, so its rare to find goods over a size 4. Bags go quickly and are still expensive, shoe selection is great- and most are only slightly worn.

Los Angeles
Wasteland, 7428 Melrose Ave LA CA: The ever famous, Wasteland in LA. They stock both new and vintage pieces. Prices can run high on the vintage items, but overall the prices are reasonable. If you're willing to riffle through the massive amount of stuff you might come out with a treasure like a Marni sweater for $40 or a $50 pair of Chloe shoes.

RIF Los Angeles, 334-A E 2nd St: Perfect for the street wear fanatic for hard to find limited edition sneakers at a consignment price as well as some denim and accessories. The sales people are well versed and can help you find what you need, can€™t find it at that time? Leave them your number and they€™ll call you if they do.

San Francisco
Cris, 2056 Polk Street: Every inch of the store is packed with recent designer cast offs from SF €œLadies who Lunch" set. Looking for last seasons Prada pumps or a basic DVF wrap dress? This is your place. The owners carefully inspect all the merchandise to make sure its in good and wearable condition. New inventory comes in every week, so it€™s worth checking in often.

Next to New Consignment Shop, 2226 Fillmore St, SF CA: This store stocks everything from Tiffany china to Jimmy Choo stilettos. Has a tendency to lean towards classic basic pieces, so don€™t come here if your looking for last season Martin Margiela. Reasonable prices and they often have $5 bins of shoes and accessories.

Chicago
Buy Choice Resale, 3860 N. Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL: Great place to find contemporary and name brand clothes under $50 dollars. J.Crew khakis, Banana Republic suits are mixed in with some contemporary brands like Marc by Marc Jacobs. The owner makes sure all items are in good sellable condition and changes out the stock seasonally.

Soulmates, 2708 N. Halsted, Chicago, IL: The go to place in Chi town for sneakers and tees. Check the store often for street wear and hard to find kicks, many of them for half the price. Check out their Web site for constant updates on what€™s in store and on sale.
