Scrub-a-dub-dub: Exfoliate Your Way to the Closest Shave Ever!

By now you€™ve probably figured out I am exfoliation junkie €“ it€™s my answer to everything. Sort of like the crazy dad in My Big Fat Greek Wedding who thought Windex could save the world, I feel the same way about exfoliation. In the movie, though, Windex actually did save the day, so maybe I am on to something with the exfoliation thing. Like when it comes to ingrown hairs from shaving. Whenever I see people with that issue, whether it€™s a man on his face or a woman under her arms, I just want to pull them aside and say: exfoliate! So consider this post my pulling you aside.

I consider exfoliation mandatory: for the hands, for the face, for the feet €“ it just has to be. But if you suffer from ingrown hairs or simply want a close shave, then pre-shave exfoliation should be a part of your regimen €“ hands down, every time, no questions asked.

Wikipedia says an ingrown hair €œcurls back or grows sideways into the skin.€ Well it makes sense that if exfoliation opens the pore, that by opening the pore, the hair inside will grow normally, right? And after a few weeks of doing this before you shave, trust me, you will see the difference.

But be gentle, don€™t go crazy, and figure out what type of exfoliation is right for you. Like every other beauty regimen, it€™s about balance. And it may leave you dryer than normal, so slather on tons of moisturizer when done.

So what are some of my fave exfoliation supplies? Exfoliation gloves are my number one! Great for the body, you can pick up these gloves at any drugstore for about four bucks. For the face try Kiehl€™s Facial Fuel Energizing Scrub, even though it is for boys I still love it. And if you want to splurge, Sisley Buff and Wash Facial Gel is the way to go.

So bees, are you ready to be a scrub? Try it out and let me know!
