Project Runway Winner Christian Has A New Client: Victoria Beckham!

It really was anyone€™s guess who was gonna be named the winner of Project Runway this season. I was fortunate enough to get the chance to attend the show during fashion week and had only one thought when it was over: how will the judges ever decide on a winner??? Jillian€™s collection was classic, feminine, and modern with definite mass appeal. Rami definitely delivered a stellar collection showcasing his talents in all areas of construction, not just draping. And then there was the wunderkind, Christian, whose avant-garde collection was dramatic and ferociously fierce- as expected. Christian provided a procession of one extraordinary piece after another that held everyone€™s attention from start to finish- most notably guest judge Victoria Beckham who looked just about ready to rip the clothes off the models and take them home with her. He pushed his creative threshold to the limit while still exercising restraint and keeping his innovative vision and strong point of view intact. In the end, this proved to be the winning formula.

I just spoke to the teeny tiny designing wonder-boy to get the scoop on the show, his collection, clear up some rumors, and his latest client, Victoria Beckham- that€™s right, he€™s designing THREE dresses for the fashion icon! Read on for more and check out our slideshow for Christian's fierce as can be 12-piece collection.

Stylehive: How would you sum up your experience on the show?
Christian: For me it was everything I thought it would be and more. I have no regrets on the show and I think meeting everyone- Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, Nina, and Victoria Beckham- it€™s all been such a surreal moment in my life and I€™m really happy to be a part of it.

Stylehive: You seemed so nervous during this challenge- understandably so- what happened to calm, cocky Christian?
Christian: Honestly, it just wasn€™t my game anymore. Jillian and Rami really stepped up their game and worked really hard- and so did I. But I just wanted to win and needed to win so bad that I really was just emotionally gonna close down, it just was killing me. It just was really hard and I think I was so sassy through the whole season and so confident and I felt like nobody was giving me any criticism about my collection so I was going into the judging like blinded, so it was hard.

Stylehive: What were your thoughts on Rami and Jillian€™s collections? I think Rami said something like you were looking over at him and was amazed by his stuff and all he could do.
Christian:The funny thing is he said that, and I didn€™t say that! He was like "Oh, Christian€™s looking at my work." I was looking at his work because it was really beautiful- I think it€™s so funny because he can be so arrogant sometimes and I just wish he would let people compliment him! But I thought it was so beautiful and it was something that I had never seen before so it was really exciting- and same with Jillian€™s. Trust me, they were lookin€™ at mine too, I just didn€™t bitch about it! His was really gorgeous and it was a little nerve-wrecking- like €˜wow, they€™re clothes are so amazing.€™ But I was honored to compete with them- I hope that they know that.

Stylehive: What were your thoughts on Victoria Beckham coming in as the guest judge?
Christian: The best day of my life- are you joking! She was so flawless, she€™s like my ideal customer, my ideal client. I would wanna dress her, like I said, every day. She knows A LOT about fashion, and the fact that she can choose anything she wants to wear from any designer, it€™s just amazing that she really liked my pieces, so that makes me feel really good.

Stylehive: She was crazy about your looks! How did you feel about all those amazing things she said? I think most designers would have passed out from shock!
Christian: I was gonna die, I mean it€™s so amazing, it was UNREAL. Actually I made her three dresses and I€™ll see her next week, so hopefully she likes them! So we€™ll see how it goes, she€™s been pretty fabulous.

Stylehive: I€™ve been hearing rumors that your clothes are available for sample pulls for editorial spreads and red-carpets, true?
Christian: A few things are because I re-did a lot of my pieces from the collection, like in different fabrics and different shapes- not a lot. I sent them to a lot of stores actually, they were mainly for stores and for buying- don€™t quote me or anything because it€™s through my sales- but nothing has really been for press yet. So we€™ll see, we€™ll see- in the next few weeks hopefully.

Stylehive: So what€™s next for you?
Christian: Honestly it can go anywhere from here, but now I€™m really just working really hard on getting backers and sponsors and everything together because I€™m definitely showing next season in Bryant Park. I want to make a career in the fashion industry. I€™m not interested in doing a lot of TV work, even though I€™ve had a lot of little offers and things, I€™m really just interested in making more of a designing career out of this, so that€™s the goal right now.

Stylehive: Are you gonna be adopting a new catchphrase aside from "fierce"?
Christian: Well I mean I might have to steal Victoria Beckham€™s catchphrase- "it€™s totally major." So I might steal Victoria€™s, but don€™t forget Ferocia Couture- that might come back out.
