"One Life to Live" Prom Fashion Preview - Stylehive

The hallways of Llanview High School are filled with excitement and anticipation as all the kids prepare for prom! This year's event is not, unfortunately, entirely musical as it was a couple years back. However, we do get the Pussycat Dolls performing, so that's some consolation. If there's one thing we love about prom besides stolen kisses behind the bleachers, it's gorgeous prom fashion! So we dialed up "One Life to Live" costume designer extraordinaire Susan Gammie to get some dish on what all the kids will be wearing on the big night.

Susan says she's most interested in how fashion "tells the story and how it reveals the character." For instance, Langston's look is at once "downtown and punk" with the contrast of hot pink and black, but is still "sophisticated" and has "an aspect of retro French couture" which shows the influence of her adoptive mother, Dorian. Susan was excited about all the wildly different options for prom-goers this year, stressing that there was no single look or style is dominating the racks. Teenagers "have the possibility of expressing who they are and who they want to be," ranging from animal prints (which she dressed mean girl Becca in, because she's catty) to psychedelic rainbows for Lola (because she trips on acid!). For those in the market for a lovely prom dress this season, Susan recommends looking at the collections of Jovani and Alyce designs for reasonably priced, but still fantastic styles.

In case you forgot, the producers of "One Life to Live" gave all the prom fashions to DonateMyDress.org, a charity that redistributes garments to needy fashionistas. They donated about two dozen dresses this year. Kristen Alderson (Starr) got into the act and donated her own personal dress which she wore last year when she was escorted to the dance by Tanner Woods, son of Robert S. Woods (Bo Buchanan).
