NYFW Runway Report: Reem Acra Does the Classic + Modern Thing

Said to represent confidence, modern luxury, and a global sense of belonging, the Reem Acra fall/winter 2008 collection blended classic tailoring with modern sensibility. Known for her gorgeously romantic evening gowns, Reem applied her impeccable tailoring skills to create stunning separates. We saw skirts made with the signature Reem Acra detailed draping, a variety of coats including a flower bomber jacket, brocade jacket, felt evening coat, and a glamorous Chinchilla coat; beautiful silk charmeuse and satin tanks, and a variety of capelets for added glamor.

The dresses were expectedly stunning- from the short silky cocktail frocks, to the edgy sequined numbers, to high-volume tent dresses, and of course, breathe-taking evening gowns constructed with a variety of silks - silk chiffon, silk satin, silk tulle, and silk organza, which allowed the dresses to delicately move and sway for a goddess-like effect. And as with every Reem Acra collection, the colors were magnificent. We saw rich jewel tones complemented by metallic neutrals and muted shades for a uniquely stunning blend that was undeniably Reem.
