I know I know, something can't look to the future and to the past at the same time, right? Just don't tell Frank Tell. In the same way that late night host Conan O'Brien screws with time in his regular forward-looking retro skit "In The Year 2000," Tell was commenting on the complexities of vision (although with less humor) at today's Tribeca Grand Hotel show for New York Fashion Week. Tell's Barbarella-esque designs use exactly three "colors" - black, white and gray. And all of the dresses save one were high-necked affairs. Where Tell plays is with fabric and finish. Sheer satiny dresses bump up against shimmery sheens and fluffy, feathery numbers. But where the Conan O'Brien link is even more telling is with the jingle-ball belts and accents on a smattering of the frocks. (Click the slideshow to see what I'm talking about.)
