Beauty Exclusive: How To Get The Lela Rose Runway Look

The Lela Rose fall/winter 2008 presentation mixed the sporty with the glamorous for the venturesome woman characterized by modern savoir faire. To reflect the effervescence and sexiness underlying this collection, beauty.com celebrity makeup artist Tina Turnbow created a rich, sensuous concept that was dramatic and minimal at the same time. Stylehive was backstage before the show where we got to see the magic unfold first-hand, and of course, the scoop on how to recreate the looks.

Tina focused on accenting Lela€™s color palette which incorporated a lot of teal blue with some sequins and gold interspersed. To achieve this, she created a smoldering blue smoky eye and incorporated a bit of glimmer into the gloss. To balance out the strong eye and lip, Tina kept the face translucent and matte- resulting in a beautiful makeup concept that can easily take you from day to night.

Here is a step by step guide on how to achieve this runway look:

Face: Apply Nars Balanced Foundation, $40 and the Nars Concealer Stick, $21 as needed, use sparingly to keeping skin as clear and matte as possible.

Cheeks: Tina used Nars Dolce Vita Blush which is not yet available; a good substitute is the Lovejoy Powder Blush, $25. Apply using a Blush Brush, focusing on the apples of the cheeks.

Eyes: Start by lining the inner rim and lashline with Nars Kaliste Liner, $20 in rich teal (a shade Tina told us looks good on everyone and can bring out the beauty in every eye color), then smudge and soften the liner using the Nars Smudge Brush, $24. Complete the universally flattering smoky eye using the Nars Single Cream Eyeshadow in Lili Marlene,$21, adding the deep gray shade around the upper and lower lash- lines. Blend outward on the upper lids and sparingly below the eye. Finish with a coat of Nars Black Mascara, $23.

Lips: Tina used a new NARS shade, Misbehave, not yet available. For a similar effect, apply the Nars sheer red lip gloss Risky Business, $24- and layer the shade Greek Holiday, $24 on top for a healthy golden shine.
