Fashion Week is always a double-edged sword- on one hand, we get introduced to all these fabulous new styles and trends. On the other, we have to put our patience to the test during the months it takes for these new collections to make their way onto the racks. Fortunately the same standards don't apply to the makeup looks, which we can replicate right now! The Carmen Marc Valvo Spring 2009 collection merged soft femininity with edgy sex appeal, a consistent trend on the runways that is best described as fiercely fabulous. Lead makeup artist Tom Pecheux for MAC played with the idea of fusing disparate elements when creating the makeup concept, keeping the face natural and matte and creating a shimmery, wet smoky eye. The result was a smolderingly sexy look that every girl simply must master. Read on for a step-by-step guide to recreating this killer look.
Eyes:- Start with a brown pencil (MAC Eye Pencil in Coffee, $13) lining really close to the lash-line on the top of the eye and inside the water line on the bottom of the eye and smudge it out. After, blend a black liquid liner (Boot Black Liquid Liner, $16.50) over the top lash line.
- Using a flat brush, follow the natural shape of the eye and apply a deep brown eye-shadow with a gold shimmer (Mulch, $14.50) diffusing it over the lid and up toward the brow-bone. Use a soft brush to blend it out a little bit past where the lash-line ends to create a bit of a cat-eye.
- Mix Clear Gloss, $17.50, with gold glitter (MAC Pro Glitter in reflects Gold) and dab it over the lid to de-construct the look a bit creating a sexy shimmery sheen. Face:
-The face was kept matte with a bit of natural color. Even out the skin with foundation or a tinted moisturizer to create a clean canvas.
-Apply Bronzing Powder in Matte Bronze, $21 under cheekbone to contour and then blend Powder Blush,$18, in a peachy shade onto the cheeks.
Lips: Finish by applying a nude, peachy Lipstick, $14 (choose a shade according to your skin-tone).
