NYFW Backstage Beauty: Get the Julie Haus Hair and Makeup Runway Look

The Julie Haus Spring 2009 collection was all about celebrating the rebellious spirit of women. Enhancing the fun, carefree, and slightly irreverent vibe of the fabulous fashions that lit up the runway were the effortlessly sexy, naturally undone hair and makeup looks. According to Dwight O'Neal, who created the makeup look for The Balm, €œIt€™s just very, very natural. Picture a model on a go-see and she€™s rushing getting in between places and she hops in a cab and just does her makeup really quickly- she throws on lip gloss throws on her mascara really quickly. So it€™s just the natural beautiful you shining through, not about the makeup.€

Read on for a step-by-step guide to replicate the hair and makeup looks!

1) Face:
Even out the face by dabbing timeBalm concealer, $17 on any imperfections- including under-eye circles and blemishes- with your ring finger. Apply a pea size amount of Balm Shelter tinted moisturizer, $24 over the entire face and set the face with translucent powder.

2) Eyes:
Apply concealer over the top of the lid as a primer and set it by dusting translucent powder over the lid. Lightly add Shady Lady Eye Shadow, $15, in Caught in the Act Courtney in the crease and along the lash line and apply the Luscious Lani shade on brow bone, utilizing it as a highlighter to emphasize the eyes. Wet Shady Lady Eye Shadow in Sexy Stacy and use it as a liner and finish off by applying five coats of Two Timer black mascara, $19, only on the top lashes.

3) Cheeks:
Slightly dust Bahama Mama bronzer, $18, along the side of the cheeks- for further definition sculpt the jaw line, nose, and along the forehead. Buff down the bronzer until it blends down and appears to be natural with the complexion.

4) Lips:
Dab an index finger amount of Stainiac in Prom Queen, $14, on the center of the lip and fill in the remainder of the lips with Plump Your Pucker Gloss in Coco My Coconut, $14, to create a beautiful kissed stained lip.

HAIR:
Hair stylist Oscar Blandi worked with Julie to develop the messy-sexy hair look, explaining, €œshe wanted something very natural, very beachy, something not done, something that looks like the day after, like you had your hair done and then it€™s very beachy wavy.€ Read on for a step-by-step guide to get the look.

1) Start with wet hair or apply Oscar Blandi Protein Mist, $18, to re-style dry hair. Apply a volumizer to the roots and cover the ends with Acaua Marina styling gel, $19, to hold the hair and blow dry for a smooth finish.

2) Use a straightening iron and twist the hair around the iron in different directions to create an edgy look. Braid a few sections and then use an iron over them to create even more texture and a slight, soft crimp.

3) Finish the look by teasing the ends with a flat brush to open up the curls. Use Tocco Finale sculpting pomade, $22, for hold and definition and Lacca Hairspray, $23. to seal and control for an undone texturized wavy look.
