For the Milly Spring 2009 collection, designer Michelle Smith gave boho a heavy 70's, ethnic-inspired edge with groovy shades, vibrant prints, and lots and lots of vintage-inspired embroidery and beading. To play up the effortlessness of the styles, lead makeup artist Romy Soleimani for MAC created a fresh, sun-kissed look with super bronzed-skin and eyes that were natural and infused with the perfect dose of sultry appeal. Read on for a step-by-step guide to re-create the look!
Face and Body: Create a deep bronze effect by using MAC Face and Body Foundation, $32, 3 shades darker than your natural tone. To allow the foundation to penetrate the skin more easily, mix in some moisturizer to thin it out for a smooth, natural finish. MAC Sundressing body tanner was also applied to match the body to the face. Cheeks: The cheek-color was created by combining two cream-blushes, (Blushcreme, $18), an orange shade mixed with a little bit of pink (Posey). Apply these shades on the higher part of the cheek-bones, where the sun would naturally hit (application tip: put the color on the inner palms, where the thumb is, and press). Eyes: Apply a pale Cream- Colored Base, $16.50, to the lid followed by Liquid Liner, $16.50, in a pearlized gold to make it more indelible. Apply the liner to the inner corner of the eye and blend it across the top lid and then blend a thicker line under the eye. Curl the lashes and apply black mascara on the top and bottom. Lips: The lips were kept natural and soft with a pinky-nude lipstick, $14.
