NYFW Runway Report: Jill Stuart Takes a Walk on the Dark Side

The Jill Stuart fall/winter €™08 collection marked a venture into darker, sleeker, more sophisticated territories, but still maintained hints of the signature Jill Stuart girliness I adore. Jill was clearly fascinated with exploring richer fabrics and more intricate structuring. We saw a lot of strapless gowns, school-girl blazers, fur boleros, structured coats, Grecian draping, and high volume tops, all of which gave this collection a very old-Hollywood glamor meets Parisian chic vibe, given a modern twist by pairing the ultra sophisticated looks with funky boots and booties. The colors weren€™t all somber, with some beautiful gold jacquard pieces, and stunning, red-carpet worthy off-white dresses thrown into the mix.
