Next Big Thing: Meet 21-Year-Old Design Prodigy Yotam Solomon

Before he could legally drink a glass of wine, Yotam Solomon had already been violin prodigy in Austria and a design prodigy in Israel. Launching his signature collection at the tender age of 20, Yotam uses fun color combinations to create bold and futuristic designs that include geometric patterns, architectural shapes, leather inserts and expertly placed cut-outs. Not only does he design sophisticated silhouettes, he also designs footwear! (Yay!) Having already been featured in the pages of British Vogue, and having shown at LA Fashion Week, we can expect much more from Yotam as he hits his mid-20s!

Meet the Designer
Even before I graduated from FIDM I had a desire to design my own line so I could work and have a creative freedom. After landing a pattern making position (which was a great experience), I realized there is nothing I would like more then to show a collection during the next LA Fashion Week. I started the company 3 months after my 20th birthday and only had three months to do everything. I did nothing but work that entire summer, from the planning to the designing to production of both the fashion show and the collection.

Nature Boy
I get much of my inspiration from nature; it is amazing to see how much beauty exists even in a big city such as Los Angeles. Even by driving up the canyons you can see wild life. I try to combine these inspirations with interesting subjects of our modern lives.

The Power of Positive Wearing
I hope that my ready-to-wear and footwear designs inspire you to do something positive in your life. Each garment is designed to make identities with different personalities feel good and by doing so giving them the power to accomplish more.

Third Time's the Charm
I€™ll be showing my Spring '09 collection this October during LA Fashion Week, which marks our third season!
