Next Big Thing: Nino Bauti Knows Texture and Tailoring

Luxurious materials, immaculate tailoring, and feminine silhouettes - what more can you ask for? Spanish-born, London-based Nino Bauti steps up to the design plate and gives us simple, clean designs in retro mini-dresses, slouchy blouses, and structured skirts, trousers, and coats. Nino was inspired to start his fashion career by his grandmother who was a famous house model for Balenciaga. An alumni of St. Martin's college of Art & Design, Nino studied under the esteemed Alexander McQueen and Giorgio Armani before launching his own women's ready-to-wear line for Spring/Summer 2007. Read more to see what inspires Nino and see the SLIDESHOW of his latest collection, which uses what I consider as the perfect navy color.

Nino's Inspirations
Anything inspires me, I am very curious by nature, music, books, movies, art, and people. I also live in London, which is a city with all the energy that you need to be creative. I never run out of inspirations here! Also, when I create I always have in mind my dear friend and collaborator, the stylist Niki Brodie, she is my partner in the brand and everything I create is always over her body, she is one of those girls that turns alive a piece of cloth - a rare quality in our times.

What's Next for Nino
Keep doing my job as best as I can, you see, being a designer is a big responsibility, everybody wants something different from you, but you have to be loyal and faithful to your principles and THAT is the challenge of everyday - delivering a product with integrity. With the next thing always follows another next. I want to have continuity in my career and keep doing things that will please me, so, therefore, will please to the group of people like me - that will make me very happy indeed.
