Next Big Thing: Caroline Hedaya's Fashion With a Sense of Humor

Designed for the fashion-forward flirtatious gal who likes her ensembles infused with a sexy, easy-chic sensibility and subtle sophistication, the Caroline Hedaya brand is based on a graceful, stylish woman with a sense of humor. At age four Caroline Hedaya€™s mother was getting phone calls from school telling her that Caroline€™s outfits were too extravagant for the classroom. At the same time, Donna Baxter was drawing Crayola fashion sketches pretending she was the head of her own fashion house. Fourteen years later, the girls met while sitting across from each-other on their first day at FIT.

The two always joked about creating a fashion line, and right after graduation, this joke became a reality. Now in its fourth season, this high-end contemporary collection is thriving and has received praise from top editors and buyers for its simple style, perfect fit, and €œyoung sophisticate€ look that combines function, quality, and fun.

The girls continue to move forward with their innovative vision and luxe concepts, which is why they€™re our pick for the Next Big Thing.

Stylehive: Who is the 'Carolina Hedya' girl?
Caroline Hedaya: The Caroline Hedaya girl is one who likes to feel special and wear a pretty dress all day and then throw on some heels and wear it out at night. She understands fun quirky fashion ideas and loves to show them off!

Stylehive: How would you describe your line?
CH: Really clean lines, really easy to wear and fun flirty details such as black lace ruffles on a pink silk dress or black lace ruffle coming as a surprise on the girls tooshie! We always stick to pretty basic color palettes (navy, pink, black, and cream) but love to add cascading ruffles and use great fabrics such as poofy pink and gold brocades as great accents. The line is a mix of classy vintage inspired styles and great rock n' roll details.

Stylehive: What was the inspiration behind your latest collection?
CH: We wanted to create a go to line for every city girl who needs a great dress for any occasion that should come up. We wanted her to be able to look through a rack of our dresses and have her love every single one and know she can wear any of them and look incredible. There was definitely some 70s influence for some of the shapes and fit and ease of the design, and of course fashion is all about having fun so that was an inspiration as well.
