Tried and Tested- The Best Mascaras Out There!

I took on the daunting task of trying tons of mascaras to find the best ones for you Hivers! From the latest lash technologies to the good old standbys, I didn't leave one mascara tube unopened or one eye lash uncovered. After testing over 20 mascaras, I compiled the best ones below.

Best Overall: Smashbox Bionic Mascara, $19 at sephora.com
What can I say? I've been wearing mascara for years now and this one blew me away! It's the first ever ionic mascara that uses a positively charged molecules that stick to lashes. It also has aloe, silk and wheat protein to strengthen and condition while you wear. This is an incredible product- my lashes were long and THICK, curled, and best of all, not clumpy. My mascara stayed on all day and well into the night with no flaking in sight!

Best Bang for the Buck: Physicians Formula Plump Potion Lash Plumping & Stimulating Mascara, $8.95 at drugstore.com
At only $8.95, this one is worth every penny. A large angled brush made application super easy and only needed a coat or two to get nice, thick lashes. Unlike other bargain mascaras, this one didn't flake off midway through the day.

Best Thickening: Cargo Texas Lash Mascara, $20 at sephora.com
Everything's bigger in Texas! This formula has elastic polymers that form little tubes around the lashes for an extra thick fake lash look. It stays on all day or all night and it's almost a little hard to get off!

Best Lengthening: DuWop Lash Venom, $24.00 at sephora.com
I was a little scared to try this one since DuWop is most famous for their cinnamon-y hot lip plumper that makes your lips burn- not what you want near your eyes! It was nicely surprised when it didn't! The big brush made it easy to apply with few strokes. It gave me lashes a longer rather than thicker look.

Best for Sensitive Eyes: Pur Minerals Triple Impact Mascara, $17.50 at purminerals.com
If you have itchy, sensitive eyes, this one is for you. Opthamalogically-tested, water-resistant and safe for sensitive eyes and contact lenses, it separated lashes nicely and added length- a great mascara for day or for a more natural look.

Best New Mascara: Givenchy Phenomen'Eyes Mascara, $27 at sephora.com
I don't think I've ever had to read the instructions before using a mascara, but I did with this one! Once I got the hang of the funny looking puffball brush it went on smoothly. The special brush made getting those little corner lashes easier than a regular brush.
