Malan Breton Weighs In On Runway Finale And More

I got the chance to chat with designer Malan Breton after the Project Runway finale show during fashion week- I mean, who better to weigh in on the competition than a Runway alum? Even though Malan didn€™t make it to the finale back in season 3, he definitely knows a thing or two about the stress and craziness that go along with putting together a collection- he has shown several times, including during this past season.

Read on for his thoughts on the final show and the looks he€™s loving for spring.

Stylehive: What did you think of the show?
Malan Breton: I think it was probably the best fashion show that Project Runway has ever had in four seasons. I think honestly the talent- I mean I have my favorites, and my favorites are definitely Jillian and Christian- I think Christian is absolutely brilliant. Jillian€™s sportswear and the way that she puts looks together and makes a woman look so incredible- I think it€™s brilliant. She can take like a ruffle or a sleeve and it still doesn€™t take away from the woman€™s form- it€™s an art, it€™s something that you really have to be experienced to do.

Stylehive: What trends are you loving for spring?
MB: I don€™t know! There are a lot of different trends. I€™m not much for bright, bright colors, I think they€™re interesting though. I think sticking with some of the metallics are kind of interesting. I think a lot of the tribal prints they€™re doing for the season are quite interesting as well- they used a lot of those and I thought what they pulled from were quite interesting. And the silhouettes I think were much more feminine and I like that. I think the trend of a much more feminine silhouette is so sexy and so beautiful.

Stylehive: Predictions for fall 2008?
MB: Women are gonna look incredible because we€™ve got designers like these!
