Last Saturday, Portuguese designer Nuno Baltazar showed off his Winter 2010 Collection on Day 3 of Lisbon Fashion Week in Cascais, Portugal, and he had every reason to be proud of the parade of satiny sheaths that floated gracefully down the runway. While the sophisticated-yet-predictable pieces that cascaded down the catwalk in the first half of the show threatened to put Baltazar in the "yawn" category due to the monochromatic grays and redundant belted silhouettes, the collection suddenly took a turn for the exciting in its second half with an unexpectedly brilliant palette of contrasting yellow and purple color-blocked dresses and deep sea blue ruffled gowns. The bare-faced, wispy-haired models served as the appropriately understated muses on which the brightly-toned and delicately-draped dresses really popped and truly allowed the careful construction and brilliant colors speak for themselves.
